F069 - Skin-Environmental Interface: Dermatologic Challenges of Our Changing Climate and Environment

Saturday, March 2; 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Learning Objectives

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Explore the intersection between Climate Change and Medicine
  • Assess the impact of Climate Change on Dermatology patients, practice, diseases, and public health
  • Describe tools for dermatologists to learn about, explore, and tackle these issues

Thank you for your interest! We sincerely request you come by, to demonstrate to the AAD staff the number of members who are interested in this topic. In this session we briefly review the science of climate change, before focusing on the impacts in medicine, and dermatology in particular. We review the impact of climate change on skin disease, including extreme weather events, infectious diseases / vector borne illnesses, and discuss a variety of skin-environmental interactions, including sunscreens, contactants, and skin cancer. We close with a discussion of relevant groups exploring these issues, and ways to get involved.
