  • Discuss the strengths and weakness of various laboratory tests in skin disease.
  • Identify new laboratory tests for detecting and diagnosing skin disease.
  • Recognize potential sources for discordant laboratory testing.

Description

This session will focus on laboratory evaluation in medical dermatology. It will present common or critical clinical scenarios followed by targeted synopses of laboratory testing methodology available, sensitivity, specificity, cost, and a discussion of associated pitfalls. The session will serve to both introduce new commercially available tests as well as a refresher of established methodologies.
