U015 - Diet in Dermatology: Translating Evidence Into Practice
Friday, July 27; 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Formulate evidence-based recommendations on dietary change for individual patients
- Differentiate for patients between those recommendations supported by evidence and those recommendations not supported by any available evidence
In the last decade, multiple studies have examined the role of diet in dermatology. The challenge for dermatologists is to take these research findings and formulate recommendations for individual patients that are evidence-based, specific to their dermatologic disease, and are actionable.
This session will review the evidence for recommending dietary change in either the prevention or treatment of different dermatologic diseases, with a focus on actionable recommendations.
This will include recommendations guided by randomized controlled trials (RCT) of dietary change in the treatment of acne, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis, as well as epidemiological studies in psoriasis and rosacea.
